Avia Maria,      By Ellen Heller

My mother had many difficult hours of labor during my childbirth. They ultimately resorted to forceps to pull me out by my head. (I still have a scar.) Anyway after a long night and longer morning of labor the noon church bells started to ring and my mother started singing "Avia Maria" at the top of her lungs and poof I was born.  To this day whenever I hear that church hymn I get a sharp pain in the head!
